P2.5 vs P3 vs P4 vs P5 LED Wall: Which Pixel Pitch Do You Need?
4 November 2026 · 4 min read · By DKS LED Screen

What pixel pitch means
Pixel pitch is the distance, in millimetres, between the centres of two LED pixels. P3 means about 3 mm between pixels. A smaller number means pixels packed closer together, which gives a sharper image.
A simple rule for viewing distance
As a rough rule, the nearest viewers should be at least as many metres away as the pitch number. A P3 wall looks good from about 3 metres, and a P5 wall from about 5 metres. Closer than that, you start to see individual dots.
Which pitch for which event
P2.5 and P3: indoor events where people are close to the screen, such as conferences, product launches, weddings and studio backdrops.
P4: a balance for large indoor halls and covered stages where viewers sit farther away.
P5 and above: outdoor stages, concerts and large grounds where viewers are far away and the screen must be very bright.
Brightness matters outdoors
In sunlight a screen needs high brightness to stay visible. Outdoor LED panels are built for this and for rain. Using an indoor panel outdoors usually looks washed out.
